Hi, I’m Casey Sabella, and that lovely lady agreeing to dance with me, is my wife Patti. (Our journey began nearly 34 years ago and we’ve been dancing together ever since!)
By God’s grace, we’ve been able to raise four children, who together with their spouses all serve with us in ministry. The church we currently serve is Motion Church where I serve as the senior pastor.
Throughout my adult life, ministry has been my passion and vocation, served in many capacities for over forty years. God gifted me early on with a passion for teaching the Word of God in practical ways.
During our journey, we have seen it all. Sadly, we have witnessed many leaders “un-call” themselves due to:
- Family problems
- Lack of funds
- Loss of Vision
Many who survive these challenges often lose their zeal for what was once their greatest passion. They do ministry similar to performing a secular job. It’s not supposed to be that way. Serving in ministry is a great honor. My goal is to help you restore some or all of that passion. I have been blessed to know seasoned leaders as friends who have not only survived, but remain on fire for God well into their nineties. They inspire and encourage me in my calling.
Many in your congregation truly don’t understand the struggles pastors face each day. Minister’s Toolbox is designed to help restore your zeal for ministry from someone who knows what you are going through.
Patti and I have experienced just about every challenge during our journey of faith. Like you, we’ve struggled with the obstacle that face church leaders and their families each day. We have always found His grace more than enough to carry us through.
He has blessed us with four grandchildren. I am still getting used to little humans calling me, “grandpa,” but the joy God has given us in all this is priceless.
We have lived in Waterbury, CT since 1988 which is also where I serve.
Throughout our lives together, we have been privileged to plant churches. I have served as the pastor of churches in New Britain, New London, Bristol, Norwich and now in Waterbury, CT. Our most recent is Motion Church. Originally founded fifteen years ago as Christ Community, we changed our name last year to reflect more clearly the nature of our mission.
The subject that excites me most is leadership development. This is the prominent theme in all my writings.
My first book, When a Church Goes Bad recounts my testimony of how Christ changed my life. It also shares my journey with an incredible church that started well but ended badly. The aim of the book is to help people with similar struggles to find their way back towards spiritual health. You can read the first three chapter for free here. The book comes with free online courses and is also available as an audiobook.
My second book, Titanic Warning, looks at history through the eyes of the four captains who played key roles in outcome of this tragedy. The book examines the differences between leaders who impact the world For Christ and those who hinder the gospel because of their worldview.
My recent booklet is just out on Kindle entitled, Who Is Your Master? It is designed as a study guide for individuals or small groups who want to go deeper in their walk with Christ. Several other Kindle books are soon coming in this series devoted to discipleship. Coming soon: A study guide on how to discover the ministry God wants you to have. Later this year, I plan a book that addresses prophetic ministry.
